Shipping the Largest Earthmovers
A mining shovel or dragline never ships in one piece. The machine breaks down into the house or revolving frame, the boom sections, the crawlers or walking shoes, the bucket or dipper, counterweights, and the cable and drive assemblies. The heaviest single pieces run into the hundreds of tons and move as heavy lifts, while the smaller assemblies travel as breakbulk. We plan the split and the load sequence with the OEM so reassembly runs in order at the pit.
How the Components Ship
The largest modules move on a chartered heavy-lift vessel with the crane capacity to handle them, while other components ship as breakbulk on flat rack and open-top units or a multipurpose vessel. Our crews handle export packing, blocking and bracing, and lashing, and we run the whole machine as coordinated project logistics with the rest of your mining equipment.
Inland Haul and Customs
After discharge the components move inland by heavy haul to the mine for reassembly, with route surveys and permits for each oversized piece. Each shipment needs a commercial invoice, a packing list, a bill of lading, and a certificate of origin, and our customs broker desk clears the cargo at destination.

How do the smaller components ship?
Smaller assemblies travel as breakbulk on flat rack and open-top units or a multipurpose vessel, with export crating, blocking and bracing, and lashing handled by our crews.
Do you coordinate reassembly at the mine?
Yes. We plan the disassembly split and the load sequence with the OEM so the components land in the right order for the field team to rebuild the machine at the pit.
What documents does the shipment need?
A commercial invoice, a packing list, a bill of lading, and a certificate of origin, plus an accurate Harmonized System code for each component. Our customs desk prepares the set and clears the cargo.
