Flat racks and open-top containers both handle cargo that will not fit in a standard box, but they solve different problems. An open-top container has full walls and a removable tarpaulin or hard top instead of a fixed roof, so cargo that is too tall can be craned in from above while staying enclosed on all four sides. A flat rack has a floor and two collapsible end walls but no sides or roof, so cargo that is too wide, as well as too tall, can overhang and be loaded from the side or top.
Choose an open-top for over-height loads that still fit the width, and a flat rack for over-width, heavy, or irregular machinery that needs side access and lashing points. Beyond both, cargo moves as breakbulk. Texas International Freight matches the equipment to your heavy machinery on every shipment.
