A lowboy, also called a low-bed, is a heavy-haul trailer with a deck that sits low to the ground between the gooseneck and the rear axles. The dropped deck lets it carry tall, heavy machinery that would exceed height limits on a standard flatbed. Lowboys move excavators, bulldozers, cranes, and other tracked and wheeled equipment that combine high weight with serious height.
The low deck keeps the overall load within legal height so the move needs fewer permits and avoids bridge clearance trouble. Heavier units use trailers with added axles to spread weight. Texas International Freight arranges lowboy and multi-axle transport for the road leg of heavy equipment moves to and from port.
