RoRo, short for roll-on roll-off, is an ocean shipping method where wheeled and self-propelled cargo drives directly onto a vessel through a ramp and off again at the destination, with no crane lift. RoRo vessels have built-in decks and ramps designed for cars, trucks, trailers, and mobile machinery. Cargo is driven aboard, lashed to the deck, and driven off on arrival.
RoRo suits anything that rolls: wheel loaders, excavators on trailers, cranes, harvesters, and trucks. It avoids the lifting and crating that container or breakbulk moves require, which can cut cost and handling risk. For units that do not roll, breakbulk takes over. Texas International Freight books RoRo for heavy equipment worldwide.
