An RGN, or removable gooseneck trailer, is a heavy-haul lowboy whose front gooseneck detaches from the deck. With the gooseneck off, the front of the deck lowers to the ground and becomes a ramp, so wheeled and tracked machinery can drive straight on under its own power rather than being craned aboard. Once loaded, the gooseneck reattaches and connects to the tractor.
RGN trailers carry the tallest and heaviest drivable equipment, and extra axles can be added to spread the heaviest loads. The drive-on design saves crane time and handling risk. Texas International Freight arranges RGN, lowboy, and multi-axle transport for heavy equipment moving to and from port.
